The inaugural MTT Fest spread indie, experimental and electronic acts across several Calgary venues over one weekend in March 2012. The lineup included Dean & Britta performing Galaxie 500 songs, Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3, Sun Araw, Julia Holter and local bands like The Famines and Lab Coast, with shows at Broken City, the Republik and the Royal Canadian Legion.

Ben Simbirski and Barnaby organized the 2012 edition and discussed the planning in a Calgary Show Services podcast interview. It was billed as an inaugural festival, but no second edition, cancellation notice or organizer announcement has ever surfaced. What MTT stands for is not stated anywhere. The last edition we could confirm was in 2012, and nothing has been announced since.
