MEC Bikefest was a free community cycling celebration hosted by Mountain Equipment Co-op stores, with bike demos, repair clinics, group rides, a bike swap, kids’ activities, and live music.
About
Bikefest was one of Mountain Equipment Co-op’s signature community events, held at MEC stores across Canada including Calgary. A Bikefest day packed in bike demos, repair clinics, group rides, a bike swap, kids’ activities, live music, and vendor booths, all free and aimed at getting more people on bikes.
These events were documented in MEC’s own 2013 annual report alongside Paddlefest and Snowfest. MEC sold its assets in 2020 and the national event program appears to have ended around 2019 or 2020. The most recent editions we could confirm ran around 2016 to 2019, and nothing has been announced since.
