The Heritage Day Festival is the Calgary Folk Arts Council’s annual celebration of Alberta’s multicultural heritage. Held on Heritage Day, the first Monday of August, it brings music, dance, traditional costumes, cultural exhibits, and international food to Eau Claire Plaza, free for the day.
About
More than 30 countries are represented through performances and exhibits, with food vendors serving dishes from around the world. It runs noon to 6:00 PM as a free, family friendly afternoon. The 2026 theme was Diversity in Traditions Woven Together.
The Calgary Folk Arts Council was established in 1975, and 2026 was the 49th year it presented the festival, which puts the first edition in 1978. It was held at Olympic Plaza for many years before moving to Eau Claire Plaza.
