GuitarFestWest is a week long classical guitar festival presented by the Classical Guitar Society of Calgary with the Mount Royal University Conservatory. Each August it offers masterclasses, workshops, ensemble rehearsals, and evening concerts led by international guest artists.
About
The week is built for guitar players: masterclasses, workshops, ensemble rehearsals, and evening concerts featuring international guests. It also includes an International Guitar Competition with cash prizes from $250 to $1000. Public concerts are open to everyone by donation.
It is presented by the Classical Guitar Society of Calgary together with the Mount Royal University Conservatory. The organizer does not publish a first held year, but the 2026 edition brought guests like Matthew McAllister of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland alongside Canadian artists Rob MacDonald, Bokyung Byun, and Emma Rush.
