The program mixes themed shows like Best of the Fest with late-night sets, plus a golf tournament fundraiser, comedy workshops, and a year-round monthly series. Shows run in the evening, typically at 5, 7 or 9 PM, and venues rotate around the city.
It was founded by Calgary comedian Stu Hughes and is produced by the FunnyFest Calgary Comedy Festival Society, a volunteer-run non-profit. The 2026 edition was the 26th annual festival.
