The program mixes feature films, shorts, documentaries and experimental work with live performances, drag, artist talks and community events. It is now often billed as the Fairy Tales Queer Art & Film Festival, and recent editions have been based at Contemporary Calgary.

It began as a volunteer-run off-shoot of the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers and is now presented by the Calgary Queer Arts Society, making it one of Canada’s longest-running queer film festivals. The 2026 edition was the 28th annual, with 42 films from 20 countries.
