Calgary Pride is the city’s annual 2SLGBTQ+ pride celebration. It is anchored by a parade down 9 Avenue SW that regularly draws more than 110,000 spectators, with Pride Week events running across downtown around Labour Day weekend.
About
Pride Week fills downtown with community events, performances, drag shows, and parties, and it all builds to the parade, one of the biggest in the country. Spectators line 9 Avenue SW by the tens of thousands, and the 2026 parade had about 150 entries. The parade usually steps off at noon.
The first march happened in 1990, when participants wore paper bags over their heads to protect their identities. The city officially recognized it in 1991 with the first Pride Week proclamation from Mayor Al Duerr, and it has grown every decade since.
