Calgary Fringe Festival is the city’s fringe theatre festival, one of the largest in North America. It takes over venues in Inglewood for nine days starting the Friday of the August long weekend.
About
Shows at the Fringe are chosen by lottery instead of a jury, so the lineup is wide open: theatre, comedy, dance, music, and work that fits nowhere else. Artists keep 100 percent of their ticket revenue, which is a big part of why performers come from across the country and beyond. Venues cluster in Inglewood, and the nine day run starts on the Friday of the August long weekend.
The festival was founded in 2006 and has grown into one of the largest fringe festivals in North America. The 2026 edition, which ran July 31 to August 8, was billed as the 20th anniversary.
