The weekend festival is organized by the Calgary Arab Arts & Culture Society. Screenings run at the Globe Cinema, preceded by a launch party and Trailer Night at The Confluence. Recent editions have added programs like Canadian Eye on the Arab World and collaborations with other Calgary film festivals.
The founders held three short-lived screenings starting around 2009, a few years before the Calgary Arab Arts & Culture Society was founded. The Society then built the current festival into an annual October event, with the 2025 edition billed as the 14th.
