History Of Signal Hill
Signal Hill was established in 1986 in southwest Calgary, on a prominent hill west of downtown. The community is named for the historic signal hill used for communication, and is known for its panoramic views of the city skyline and the Rocky Mountains.
On November 3, 1991, Battalion Park opened in Signal Hill, commemorating the WWI soldiers who trained at the Sarcee Camp with large stone numerals on the hillside visible from across the city. Today Signal Hill is a well-established west Calgary community with excellent schools and recreation.
