History Of Parkdale
Parkdale was annexed in 1910; streetcar lines arrived in 1911 along with the Parkdale Addition subdivision. The neighbourhood was established in 1948, and 1950s Victory Housing and bungalows shaped much of its housing stock.
In the 1980s, residents successfully opposed a planned six-lane highway through the area. Parkdale Plaza opened by the Bow River in 2014 with the Outflow sculpture, and the Bow River pathway runs along the community's southern edge.
