History Of Bayview

1967 Bayview is established on a peninsula on the southern shore of the Glenmore Reservoir.
1968 Alcan Design Homes completes the first homes; the community's American Colonial style takes shape.

Bayview was developed in the late 1960s by Alcan Design Homes, a subsidiary of Alcan, on a peninsula on the southern shore of the Glenmore Reservoir. The first lot was sold to Bill Dickie, and the first homes were ready for occupancy in January 1968. All homes were designed by Alcan, predominantly in the American Colonial style, with front garages and no laneways.

The community has remained a small enclave of single-family detached homes, and it is one of Calgary's wealthiest neighbourhoods. Its marina and reservoir shoreline give residents direct access to sailing and the Glenmore Reservoir pathway system.
